As our first event of the quarter, in collaboration with the Internship and Career Center (ICC) we held the Careers with Animals event where students were able to hear from a few speakers who are involved in careers that involve animals. Our first speaker was Dr. Fern Tablin, PhD, VMD who is the Professor and Chair of Anatomy, Physiology and Cell Biology at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, and she provided our club with a great perspective on her path to vet school, about the importance of finding your interests and mentioning the variety of opportunities that are available. Our second speaker was Abby Warner, who is a Senior Trainer of Marine Mammals at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and she peaked our members interest in getting involved and how she got where she is. Our third and final speaker was Catherine L. Tran who is the Quality Assurance Manager for VDx Veterinary Diagnostic Services and she gave a great presentation on where she explains there are many paths a person can take to determine where someone belongs. Overall it was a great demonstration of the variety of opportunities available in the animal fields and just requiring a person to find where they belong.
